# Schema preview

> When you ask the assistant to create an object or add properties, it shows you a preview of the exact fields to approve (Build, Refine, or Cancel) before anything is created.

## Overview

When you ask the assistant to **create a new object (table)** or **add properties (fields)** to an existing object, it doesn't write to your schema blind. It shows you a **preview** right in the chat (every object and property it plans to create, with each field's **name, type, options, and relation target**), so you can see exactly what you'll get *before* anything is saved.

From the preview you can **Refine** the change in plain language, **Build** it, or **Cancel**. Nothing is written to your workspace until you press the create button.

<Tip>
  Try it in a [sandbox](/start/sandboxes/overview) first. Ask the assistant to add a few fields to a sample object and watch the preview before you do it in your real workspace.
</Tip>

## How it works

1. **You describe what you want**, e.g. *"add ARR, a Company relation, and a Status to Deals."*
2. **The assistant proposes a schema change** and pauses on a **preview card** in the chat. The card lists each object and every property it plans to create. The field name, its type, any options (for select / status fields), and, for a relation, which object it links to.
3. **You review and adjust:**
   * **Refine**: type what you'd like changed (*"make Status a select instead"*, *"add a Close Date"*) and the assistant re-proposes the preview in place. You can refine as many times as you like.
   * **Build**: the assistant creates the objects and properties for you.
   * **Cancel**: nothing is created; the assistant asks what you'd like to change.
4. **After you build**, the new object and fields are part of your workspace like any other. You can rename, reorder, and configure them.

## Relations

A **relation** property links records on one object to records on another (e.g. a Deal's **Company** field pointing at the **Companies** object). In the preview, a relation shows its **target object** next to the field, so you can confirm it links to the right thing before it's created. You can also ask for a **back-reference**, a matching field on the target object pointing the other way.

## Troubleshooting

* **The assistant created a field without showing a preview.** Adding fields now goes through the preview. If you don't see one, make sure the request is about creating an object or property (not editing an existing record's *value*, which doesn't change the schema).
* **A relation field didn't appear in the preview.** A relation must point at a real object. If the assistant couldn't tell which object you meant, it will ask, or leave that field out. Tell it explicitly (*"link Company to the Companies object"*) and refine.
* **The preview shows the wrong type for a field.** Use **Refine** and say what it should be (*"make Priority a select with High, Medium, Low"*). The preview updates in place; nothing is written until you Build.
* **I want to change the fields after building.** Once built, the object and its properties are normal schema. Open the object's settings to rename, reorder, or reconfigure any field.
