# Threads

> Read, reply, forward, and link email back to records.

Email threads in Custral are a view onto the underlying Conversation model. Every message in a thread (inbound or outbound) shares the same Conversation row, so assignment, dispositions, and timeline events apply across the whole thread.

## Thread view

The thread view shows messages newest-last, with quoted history collapsed. Use the right rail to:

* See the **linked records** (contacts, deals, tickets) inferred from the participants.
* Add or remove a link manually.
* View the **assignment**, current owner, and disposition.
* See related Custral activity (calls, SMS, and notes) in a unified timeline.

## Reply, reply-all, forward

Each message exposes Reply, Reply-All, and Forward. Reply preserves the thread-id; Forward creates a new thread but inherits the linked-records list from the source.

## Internal notes

Internal notes live alongside email messages in the thread but are not delivered externally. They are visible to anyone with access to the Conversation.

## Marking read

Threads track read state per user. Opening a thread marks it read for the current user only, teammates still see unread state until they open it themselves.
