# Page recovery

> Find pages that fell out of the sidebar, and restore ones you deleted.

Pages can occasionally end up invisible in the sidebar, for example when the section they lived in was removed, or a parent page was deleted out from under them. And a page you delete isn't gone forever: it's kept for a while so you can bring it back. **Page recovery** is where both live, under **Settings → Page recovery** (Workspace).

## Lost pages

A page is **lost** when nothing in the sidebar can reach it:

* **No section**: the page has no section and no parent, so there's nowhere for it to appear.
* **Deleted parent**: the page was nested under another page that has since been deleted, so it can never attach to the tree.

Open **Settings → Page recovery → Lost pages** to see them. Search by name, or filter by reason and type.

### Getting a lost page back

Select one or more pages and choose **Move to section…**, or use the **Move to…** button on a row. Pick a destination section and the page reappears there in the sidebar. Nested pages under it come along automatically. You only move the top page.

## Deleted pages

**Settings → Page recovery → Deleted pages** lists pages you've deleted, newest first, with the section they were in and when they were removed.

* **Restore** brings a page (and everything that was nested under it) back to where it lived. If that section no longer exists, the page returns to **Lost pages** so you can re-file it.
* **Delete permanently** removes the page and its nested pages for good. This can't be undone, so you're asked to confirm.

Search and filter the list the same way as Lost pages.

## Troubleshooting

    It may be a **personal** page, which only its creator can see, or it may be nested under a page you haven't expanded. Personal pages don't appear in Page recovery. They live in the creator's private section. If it truly has no section and no parent, it will show under **Lost pages**; use **Refresh** to re-check.

  <Accordion title="I restored a page but still can't find it in the sidebar">
    The page's original section was deleted, so it came back without one, check **Lost pages** and move it into a section from there.

  <Accordion title="A deleted page I expected isn't in the list">
    Deleted pages are kept for a retention window and then removed permanently. Very old deletions may already be purged. Deleted **personal** pages also don't appear here. Only workspace pages do.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Move to section… or Restore is greyed out or fails">
    These actions require **Admin** access to the workspace. If you don't have it, ask a workspace admin to recover the page. If an action fails, note the request ID on the error and share it with support.
