# Teammate profiles

> See who a teammate is, what they've been doing, what they own, and the fastest way to reach them.

Every member of your workspace has a **profile**: who they are, who they report
to, whether they're here right now, what they've done lately, and the records
and conversations they own. Open yours from the account menu (**Your profile**),
or anyone's from their avatar in a "who's here" stack (**View profile**) or
from **Settings → Team → Users → the person → View profile**.

<Tip>
  Try it in a [sandbox](/start/sandboxes/overview) first: sample teammates have owned records and activity, so every
  section has something in it.
</Tip>

## What's on a profile

The header shows their photo, title, teams, manager, whether they're online or
away, their **local time**, their working hours and their skills. The tabs
below it:

| Tab | What it shows |
| - | - |
| **Overview** | Their numbers (records owned, open conversations, open tasks), recent activity beside what they own, and **About**: email, links, manager and the people who report to them. |
| **Activity** | Calls, replies and record changes from the last 30 days, newest first. |
| **Owned records** | Every record where a person field (Owner, Account manager, …) names them, grouped by object, with each record's stage. |
| **Conversations** | The open conversations assigned to them. |

Click a number to open its tab, or **View all** on a card.

## Everyone sees only what they can open

A profile never shows you something you couldn't open yourself. Activity on a
record you can't read, a field hidden from you, a conversation that's private to
another team: all left out. Two people looking at the same profile can see
different lists, and that's correct.

A call is still listed when you can't read the contact, but it names nobody:
"Made a call · 4 min", never a phone number.

## Editing a profile

**Edit profile** sets the title, who they report to, their time zone, and their
links (GitHub, LinkedIn, Discord, anything with a name). You can edit your own;
workspace admins can edit anyone's.

* A manager has to be someone in the workspace, and you can't pick someone who
  already reports up to them. That would make a loop.
* Time zones come from a list, so a typo can't break anyone's local time.
* Links are what [contact methods](/team/users/contact-methods) build their
  links from, like a Discord DM from your Discord name.

## Choosing what profiles show (admins)

**Customize layout** sets which sections every profile shows, and in what
order. It's one layout for the whole workspace. Turning **Recent activity** or
**What they own** off also removes its tab.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="A record they own isn't listed">
    Only records where a **person** field names them count, and only ones you can read. A record assigned through a text
    field, or one shared with them but not owned, won't appear. Check the record's person fields, and whether you can
    open it yourself.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Recent activity is empty">
    It covers the last 30 days, and only records and conversations you can open. Edits made by a workflow or an import
    are the workflow's, not theirs. Emails aren't listed yet; calls, chat and SMS replies, and record changes are.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Their local time is missing">
    They haven't set a time zone. They (or an admin) can set one in **Edit profile**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I can't pick a manager">
    The person you picked already reports up to them, directly or through someone else. Pick someone above them instead.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="There's no Contact button">
    You're on your own profile, or your workspace has no [contact method](/team/users/contact-methods) that works for
    this person yet: none turned on, the provider isn't connected, or they're missing what a method needs (like an
    email).
  </Accordion>
