What it does

Notion brings data into Custral. The rows of the Notion databases you share become records in objects your workspace already has, for example a Notion Tasks database into your Tasks object. Changes made in Notion can keep arriving after that. Edits made in Custral are not sent back to Notion. Notion pages (documents) do not come over, and no new objects are created for your databases. Custral asks Notion only to read content and to read user information including email addresses (so a Notion person can be matched to a teammate). It cannot edit, create or comment on anything in Notion.

Connect

1

Set up Notion

Open Settings → Integrations → Notion and click Setup Integration. Choose what you want it for: bring data in, keep it in sync, and whether Stella may search Notion for you.
2

Pick what to share

Notion asks which pages to share. Tick the pages that hold your databases; everything under them comes along. Custral only ever sees what you tick here.
3

Bring data in

Back in Custral, Stella opens beside the page with what Notion shared and where each database most likely goes. It shows the column mapping and a dry run before anything is written, then runs the import. You can Undo an import from the same chat.
You can start again any time from Bring data in from Notion on the integration page.

How columns come over

Stella suggests where each column goes and what type a new property should be; you can change either in the mapping. New properties and new select options are only created when you confirm them, and Undo removes them again.

Keep in sync

After an import, choose Keep in sync in the chat, or tick it at setup. Edits in Notion then arrive on their own, usually within a few minutes, plus a full check every 6 hours. The tables that keep syncing are listed on the integration page’s Kept in sync tab, with Stop syncing and Sync now.

Limitations

  • One way only. Changes in Notion come into Custral; edits in Custral stay in Custral.
  • Synced fields are read-only in Custral while Keep in sync is on. Change them in Notion, or stop syncing.
  • Deletes don’t carry over. A row deleted in Notion stays in Custral.
  • Relations aren’t linked yet. A relation column is skipped rather than imported as text.
  • Pages don’t come over, only database rows.
  • The connection reads what the person who connected it can see and shared. If they lose access in Notion, syncing stops until somebody reconnects.

Troubleshooting

Disconnect

Uninstalling Notion stops every sync and removes the connection. Imported records stay in Custral and stop receiving updates.
