How access works
A user’s access is controlled by the Access Control List (ACL) on each Entity: an Object, Record, View, Page, and so on. Access is granted directly to a user, or to a Group they belong to. When grants overlap, Custral applies the highest level available to that user.
See Access levels for what each level allows, and the permission hierarchy for how access inherits down the entity tree.
Adding a user
1
Open Users
Go to Settings → Team → Users and choose Invite user.
2
Enter their details
Add their name and email address.
3
Add them to a Group (optional)
Put them in a Group so they inherit its access automatically.
Managing users
Admins and Owners can change a user’s Group memberships, adjust their access, deactivate users who no longer need access, and transfer ownership of Entities when someone leaves. Changes apply immediately across the workspace.Best practices
- Use Groups for structure: add a new user to a Group to grant the right access automatically.
- Limit direct grants: prefer Group access; it scales better and is easier to audit.
- Review access regularly: check user lists and ACLs periodically to keep the workspace tidy.
- Deactivate, don’t delete: deactivating preserves history and ownership tracking.
