An Object Template is a saved, pre-filled record that Custral copies when a user creates a new record. Use templates to enforce conventions and reduce data-entry friction. A template is itself a record (it just doesn’t appear in normal lists), so you fill in its properties exactly the way you would fill in a real record.

Defining a template

Open the Object’s settings → Templates → Add template. Give it a name and icon, then open the template and set the property values you want new records to start with. When a user creates a record from this template, those values are copied onto the new record (any field they fill in themselves overrides the template’s value).

Multiple templates per object

An object can have many templates. The user picks one when creating a record from the New Record button.

Default template

One template can be marked as the Object’s default. The default is applied automatically when a record is created without an explicit template choice. It is the template you select as default, not simply the first one in the list. Clearing the default reverts to a blank record.
