Overview
Discover Contacts scans the email already synced into Custral and surfaces the real people you’ve corresponded with who aren’t in your CRM yet. Instead of combing your inbox by hand, you review a ranked queue of suggested contacts and add the ones worth keeping. How it works
When you run a scan, Custral reads the email messages already synced into your workspace (no re-fetch from your provider) and groups them by the people on them. It then drops:- your own connected email accounts and teammates,
- automated senders (
no-reply@,mailer-daemon, notifications, …), - addresses on your own company domain (colleagues),
- anyone already saved as a contact.
Using it
1
Open Discover Contacts
Go to Settings → Data Structures → Discover Contacts.
2
Run a scan
Pick a window (last 90 days, last year, or all time) and click Scan
emails. The status line shows progress; the queue fills as people are
found.
3
Choose where contacts go
Use the Add to picker to choose which object new contacts are created
under (e.g. your Contacts or People object).
4
Review and add
For each candidate you see their name, email, how many emails you’ve
exchanged, when you last spoke, and a confidence score. Add or dismiss
individually, or select several and use the bulk actions.
Troubleshooting
The scan found nothing
The scan found nothing
Custral only mines email that’s already synced. If your inbox was connected
recently, give the initial sync time to finish, then scan again. A short
lookback window also limits results, try All time.
Adding a contact fails
Adding a contact fails
The object chosen in Add to must have an email property. Pick an object
that has one (or add an email property to it), then try again.
A real person is missing from the queue
A real person is missing from the queue
They may already be a contact, sit on your own company domain, or have only
appeared in automated-looking messages. People with a single one-way message
rank lowest, widen the window and check further down the queue.
Someone I dismissed came back
Someone I dismissed came back
Dismissals persist across scans, so this is usually a different address for
the same person. Dismiss the new one too, or add it if it’s worth keeping.
