Overview

The chat widget opens straight on a message box. Under your greeting it shows a few suggested questions a visitor can tap instead of typing, and, while your AI agent is on, a Talk to a person button that hands the chat to your team. Page prompts go one step further: a short note written for one page of your site, like your pricing page. It appears above the chat button after a few seconds, with one-tap reply buttons, and the chat only opens if the visitor replies. Both are set in Settings → Chat Widget → Prompts.

Suggested questions

Under Suggested questions, add up to four questions. Tapping one sends it as the visitor’s message, so your AI agent or your team answers it right away.
  • Leave the list as it is to keep the defaults. Remove every question to show none.
  • Offer “Talk to a person” adds the button that hands the chat to your team. It only shows while your AI agent is on. When it’s off, every chat already goes to your team.
The live preview beside the settings shows exactly what visitors see.

Page prompts

Under Page prompts, add a note for a page on your site: Tapping a button on the note opens the chat and sends that question as the visitor’s reply, with the note above it. With the Ask bar launcher, the bar under the note is the place to type your own reply. Each visitor sees a note once. It doesn’t appear while the chat is open or while a conversation is already under way, and it never opens the chat by itself.

How often notes show

Two settings under the list of page prompts keep notes from getting in the way: When two prompts could match, the exact page wins over a section, and a deeper section (/docs/api/*) wins over a shallower one (/docs/*).

Draft from your website

Draft from my website reads the site your AI agent learned from (see the Knowledge tab), writes a note and two questions for your key pages, and lets you pick which to add. Nothing changes on your site until you press Save.

Ask Stella

Stella, your AI teammate, can read and change these for you: “add a note for our pricing page that says Questions about plans? Ask us”, “remove the prompt on /careers”, “change the suggested questions”, “switch the chat widget to the Ask bar”, “turn off message sounds”, or “let page notes show again a week after someone closes one”. In Ask permission mode it shows you the change and waits for your approval. It refuses a note or question over the limits instead of cutting it short. Changing them needs Admin access to the chat widget. Tools you connect through MCP can make the same changes with a key that holds widget:manage.

What your team and your AI agent see

Each message a visitor sends carries the page they sent it from, so:
  • Your AI agent knows which page the visitor means when they ask about “this plan”.
  • The conversation shows On Pricing wherever the visitor’s page changes.
  • A reply to a page prompt shows the note first, so the reply reads in context.
Visitors see a This page: Pricing chip above the message box and can remove it. Only the page’s address and title are sent, never anything after ? in the address.

Intake questions

If you ask visitors for their details (the Intake Form tab), the widget asks after their first message, as a card in the chat, instead of before they can type.
