Overview
In the US, mobile carriers only reliably deliver business (“Application-to-Person”) text messages from numbers tied to a registered business. Custral handles this registration for you through Twilio’s A2P 10DLC program: you provide your business and messaging details once, in Settings → Phone & SMS → Compliance, and we register your Brand and Campaign with The Campaign Registry. Until your campaign is approved, texts may be filtered or blocked (and you’ll see a “Set up SMS campaigns” prompt wherever you text). How it works
- Brand: your business identity (legal name, address, and EIN for Standard brands). Registered and given a trust score by The Campaign Registry.
- Campaign: your messaging use case (what you send and how recipients opt in).
- Brand types: pick based on your business:
- Sole Proprietor: no EIN required. Lower daily throughput, no registration fee. Best for small businesses and individuals.
- Standard: requires an EIN. Higher throughput, full vetting.
- Low-Volume Standard: a lighter Standard tier.
Using it
1
Open the Compliance tab
Go to Settings → Phone & SMS → Compliance.
2
Choose a brand type
Pick Sole Proprietor if you don’t have an EIN, otherwise Standard.
3
Fill in your details
Business name, address, industry, website, an authorized representative, and your messaging campaign, including
sample messages and an opt-in description (how people consent to receive texts, and how they opt out by
replying STOP).
4
Submit and wait
Submitting charges a one-time registration fee (in credits) and starts vetting. The status banner updates from
pending to approved on its own. You can leave the page. You’ll be notified when it’s done.
Costs
Registration consumes a one-time amount of Custral credits (covering Twilio’s Brand + Campaign fees). If your balance is too low, the wizard shows aninsufficient_credits error. Top up and resubmit.
Opt-out is automatic
Carrier rules require honoring opt-outs. Anyone who replies STOP is automatically opted out and Custral will refuse further texts to them; they can reply START to opt back in. This is handled for you. You don’t need to track it.Troubleshooting
When reporting an issue, include the request id shown in the error toast. It links the in-app error to the server
logs.
