You can send SMS from three places:
  • Compose modal in the Inbox (open the channel picker and choose an SMS channel).
  • Record detail: the conversation panel shows an SMS action when the record has a recognised phone property.
  • Workflow / Sequence: a “send SMS” action sends to a recipient resolved from the linked record.

Selecting a channel

If you have access to more than one SMS channel, the compose modal asks which number to send from. Personal channels show first; shared channels are grouped below.

MMS

To attach an image or video, use the paperclip icon. Files larger than the carrier MMS limit are sent as a hosted link instead.

Templates

SMS templates live alongside email templates and reuse the same personalisation tokens.

Failures

If Twilio rejects the send (invalid number, opt-out, blocked), the failure is recorded on the Conversation timeline with the Twilio error code. The number is added to the suppression list automatically when the failure indicates a permanent block. See Suppressions.
